Portugal, the sun-kissed country on the Iberian Peninsula, has a eventful history that can be felt everywhere. The people are open, which leads to many good conversations. Many of the tourist attractions date back to a time when Portugal was one of the world's greatest maritime powers and when countless discoverers were Portuguese. Portugal stands for the diversity of cities, landscapes, and coastline.
But did you also know that Portugal has wonderful lakes that are well worth discovering? How about circumambulating the ten largest lakes on foot and without rush? It is said that we only truly know a place when we explore it on foot.
Join the Iron Lake Challenge Portugal, enjoy time at Portugal's ten largest lakes, and earn the Iron Lake Challenge collector's medal in the "Portugal" edition.

RULES
The rules for the Iron Lake Challenge Portugal are very simple. However, we would like to clarify them once more at this point:
- Sign up for the Iron Lake Challenge Portugal!
- To finish the Iron Lake Challenge Portugal and earn the beautiful collector's medal, after registering you must walk around the ten largest lakes in Portugal. Lakes that are partially located in the territory of other states are not taken into account for this challenge.
- Bicycles, roller skates, etc. are not allowed, but you are more than welcome to hike or run.
- The Iron Lake Challenge Portugal has no time limit. This means that you can complete the circuit of the ten lakes over several years.
- We trust you when it comes to having actually completed the loop around the lakes. However, if you would like to be included in the time ranking, we will need a copy of your tracking (tracking). For us, it doesn't matter which method/device you use (which watch, smartphone or application that you use).
General ATTENTION!
- Please note that traffic regulations apply in public spaces and along roads and cycle paths. Therefore, please move with consideration and care.
- You circuit the lakes at your own risk. The operator of this website assumes no liability.
- Please observe any medical advice or undergo a medical examination before starting the challenge. You are solely responsible for your state of health, your equipment, and your physical condition. Canceling a route is no disgrace—health always comes first!
Some important rules on how to treat nature during your circuit around the lake
- Please note the local nature conservation instructions.
- Please do not leave the trails.
- Please do not make noise.

- Please do not pick mushrooms.
