You learned in school that about 70% of our earth is covered with water. But the wet home of many plants and animals is polluted with plastic waste. Thousands of pieces of plastic float on every square kilometer of ocean.
This plastic is eaten by animals, birds and turtles get caught in old plastic nets, and pollution continues to increase day by day.
Every year, between 5 and 12 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans, and the trend is rising. If we do nothing about it, we will destroy the entire marine habitat. Did you know that the oceans absorb more CO2 than our forests? In concrete terms, this means that if we don't save our oceans, we won't be able to save ourselves either.
For this reason, we thought we'd give you a little "push" here as well, along with a few suggestions on how you can help clean up the oceans and keep them clean.
I believe that every person can change the world with their actions! Make your life through meaningful actions (challenges) to something special and lasting! Make yourself immortal!

A new challenge every Monday! Stay informed!
What can I do against the pollution of the oceans?
The most effective way is to contribute to the fact that less and less plastic is needed. You can adjust your shopping behavior accordingly and try to buy less and less products that contain plastic. For this purpose we have started our own challenge "Reusable".
It may sound old-fashioned, but plastic belongs in the yellow bag! Waste separation is the prerequisite that used plastic is reused-or properly destroyed-with the designated processes.
Free coasts from garbage
If you live on the coast, then you can regularly collect washed up garbage and dispose of it properly. If you're a country bumpkin and live far from the sea, you can do it at a nearby lake. We have created a challenge for this with the "Garbage Grab"published a corresponding challenge with which you can collect Life Score points.
By the way you can visit the website https://www.gewaesserretter.de from July 2022 find coordinated garbage collection actions on the coast and help. Of course you can also start your own actions!
Support NGO's that actively clean up the oceans
There are volunteer organizations that specialize in cleaning up our oceans. However, these actions cost a lot of money, which is why they need our support. One example is the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union https://www.nabu.de/natur-und-landschaft/meere/muellkippe-meer/16794.htmlbut there are many more. You can also earn Life Score points for passively supporting such organizations (see our Passionate Supporter Challenge).
Life Score points for volunteering to support marine cleanup projects.
We would like to encourage you to support one of the many volunteer projects to clean up the oceans with your manpower and know-how. Here you will find a few examples of what is possible: https://www.volunteerworld.com/de/filter?f%5BsCN%5D=Marine%20Conservation
You will get from us (depending on the assignment) 50 to 100 Life-Score points
