However, you first have to circumnavigate the ten largest lakes in the United Kingdom! Only then we will send you the well-deserved medal and the marble! After all, you want to earn them, not get them for free.
How to register:

- You will now receive a registration confirmation
- Now you have to walk around the ten largest lakes in the United Kingdom (see below). As soon as you have completed the ten lakes, please send us an extract of your tracking as proof. We will believe you even without tracking, but you will not be included in the honor roll.
- After we have checked this, you will receive your well-deserved medal and marble. Easy, isn't it?
RULES
The rules for Iron Lake Challenge United Kingdom are very simple. Nevertheless, we would like to clarify them once again at this point:
- Sign up for the Iron Lake Challenge UK!
- To conquer the Iron Lake Challenge UK and earn the beautiful collector's medal, you have to walk around the ten largest lakes in the United Kingdom after registering. Lakes that are partly on the territory of other countries are not included in this challenge.
- Bicycles, skates, etc. are not allowed, but you are welcome to hike or run.
- You have as much time as you want to cycle around a single lake. You can therefore circle it in stages over several days.
- The Iron Lake Challenge UK has no time limit. This means that you can cycle around the ten lakes over several years.
- We trust you that you have really circumnavigated the lakes. However, if you want to be included in the time ranking, we need a copy of your tracking. We don't care what you use (watch, smartphone or app).
General PLEASE NOTE!
- Please note that traffic rules apply in public traffic areas and along roads and cycle paths. So move with consideration.
- You circumnavigate the lakes at your own risk and at your own risk. The operator of this website assumes no liability.
- Please heed medical advice if necessary or have a medical examination before the start of the Challenge. You are responsible for your own health, equipment and condition. Breaking off a tour is not a disgrace, health always comes first!
A few important rules for dealing with nature during your lake tour:
- Please take into account the local instructions for the protection of nature.
- Please do not go off the trails.
- Please do not make noise.
- Please do not collect rocks or minerals.
- Please do not collect mushrooms.
- Please do not leave any garbage lying around. Quite the opposite. Many of us even collect garbage.
- Please do not feed animals.
- Please do not make an open fire.
- Please do not pick plants.
This should be obvious to all of us, but it doesn't hurt to remember it from time to time.

The ten largest lakes in the United Kingdom
Circumnavigating the ten largest lakes in the United Kingdom is a real challenge, as they are all impressive in size. But you can take as much time as you like. Unfortunately, we couldn't include Loch Morar (although it should be on the list) as there are no known footpaths for a circumnavigation.
Lough Neagh
Der größte See des Vereinigten Königreiches liegt in Nordirland und bietet einige der schönsten Landschaften Ulsters mit ausgedehnten Lebensräumen für Wildtiere, unberührten Buchten und zwei abgelegenen Inseln. Hier soll sich auch die Legende von Finn MacCool abgespielt haben, welche heute weltberühmt ist. Die Umrundung des Lough Neagh ist eine beliebte Route für Radfahrer und Wanderer und ist als „Loughshore Trail“ bekannt. Sie ist ca. 178 Kilometer lang.

Lower Lough Erne
Auch der Lower Lough Erne liegt in Nordirland. Mit dem „Upper Lough Erne“ verbindet ihn eine Wasserstraße die bei privaten Bootsreisenden sehr beliebt ist. Doch nicht nur das Bootfahren ist eine Attraktion sondern auch die tollen Wanderwege auf einer Länge von ca. 100 Kilometern (je nach gewählter Tour).

Loch Lomond
Der Loch Lomond ist der größte See Großbritanniens und liegt in Schottland, im Südwesten der schottischen Highlands. Der Loch Lomond hat, je nach Wasserstand, bis zu 60 Inseln unterschiedlicher Größe. Zahlreiche Lieder besingen diesen berühmten See und er ist bei Radfahrern und Wanderern sehr beliebt. Um den See zu umrunden musst Du ca. 100 Kilometer (je nach gewählter Route) zurücklegen.

Loch Ness
Der Loch Ness ist ein wunderschöner See in dem zahlreiche Fischarten leben. Die Umgebung ist sehr vielfältig und bietet neben einer schönen Natur auch tolle Sehenswürdigkeiten. Am See finden häufiger Sport-Events statt die gerne von Zuschauern begleitet werden. Die Umrundung des Loch Ness ist ca. 130 Kilometer lang. Vielleicht siehst Du sogar Bewohner die Du nicht erwartest 😉

Upper Lough Erne
Der Upper Lough Erne gehört Fermanagh Lakelands, ein Wasserwunderland im Zentrum von Nordirland. Uralte Inselsiedlungen mit Geschichte, Wassersportarten aller Art, tolle Hotels und Gaststätten und die geschäftige Stadt Enniskillen machen dieses Wasserparadies zum perfekten Ort für Entdecker. Je nach Route ist eine Umrundung ca. 70 bis 90 Kilometer lang.

Loch Awe
Der von Südwest nach Nordost langgezogene, Loch Awe liegt ebenfalls in Schottland und ist durch einen Gletscher entstanden. Er ist bekannt für seine Forellen, aber selbst Lachse ziehen in den See. Eine Umrundung ist (je nach gewählte Tour) ca. 120 Kilometer lang.

Loch Maree
Auch der Loch Maree hat die typisch langgezogene Form eines in der Eiszeit durch Gletscher entstandenen Sees. Er ist circa 20 km lang, aber weniger als vier Kilometer breit. Überragt wird Loch Maree im Südosten von der breiten Felsmasse des 981 m hohen Slioch.

Loch Tay
Der schottische Loch Tay ist einer der tiefsten Seen Schottlands. Im Norden wird der Loch von der beeindruckenden Ben Lawers Mountain Range flankiert, von denen ein Großteil als nationales Naturschutzgebiet ausgewiesen ist. Der See ist beliebt bei Wassersportlern, aber auch Wanderer kommen auf ihre Kosten. Eine Umrundung ist ca. 78 Kilometer lang (je nach gewählter Route).

Loch Shin
Der Loch Shin ist der nördlichste See in unserer Liste. Der See ist sehr fischreich und im Herbst wandern Tausende von Lachsen den Loch hinauf. Südlich des Sees müssen sie im Shin dabei die Falls of Shin überwinden. Ihn zu umrunden kostet Dich (je nach gewählter Tour ca. 90 Kilometer).

Loch Rannoch
Der Loch Rannoch ist ein aufgestauter Süßwassersee in den schottischen Highlands. Im westlichen Teil des Sees befindet sich eine künstliche Insel, ein so genanntes Crannog. Der See ist sowohl bei Anglern als auch bei Wanderern beliebt, aber vergiss das Mückenspray nicht, da im Sommer regelmäßig Mückenplagen einziehen. Die Umrundung ist ca. 45 Kilometer lang.

- Register on our site
- Select the lake you are circumnavigating under "Summit/Lake
- Enter the distance you have covered (in meters) under "Length / Mountain height (in m)"
- Enter the required time (in minutes) under "Time needed (in min).
- Enter the date of your circumnavigation under "date"
- Now you can upload the evidence (e.g. a screenshot of your tracking) under "Upload proof (optional)"
- Now all you have to do is SAVE!
- We check your round and release it. Then you will see your result in the ranking.
