I love the forest and the forest is the reason why I started the Timeless Challenge! When I walk through the forest, I enjoy the clean air and this very special atmosphere between the trees. Emotionally, I cannot understand how people (I deliberately do not point the finger at certain nations or groups of people) destroy and cut down forests so unscrupulously, although they know about their importance for oxygen production, the climate, as a supplier of raw materials and for our mental balance. The fact is that we humans have always cleared more forest than we have planted, but that was not a problem in the past because there were not very many of us.
But in the meantime the population of the earth has multiplied and more and more forest areas fall victim to our machines and fires.
For a long time I believed that nothing could be done about it. How wrong I was!
Each of us can contribute his small part to protect forest and already destroyed forest replant (reforest). And be it only 100 trees, and that is really not difficult.

To master this absolutely useful challenge/support, you have various options (see below) accordingly, you can also choose different numbers of Life-Score points. Collect points and the popular marbles in blue.
Your ways to protect the forest
We are sure that we have only presented a very small selection of possibilities to protect the forest. If you have any other ideas, please let us know! We would be really grateful if we could offer our readers many more possibilities. After all, it helps us all!
A tree that is not cut down in the first place has a much higher added value than a newly planted tree„.
Bergwaldprojekt
During my research, this project really fascinated me. With a lot of personal commitment, the Bergwaldprojekt was founded as an association in 1987. Here you can become active with your personal work for the preservation, care and protection of the forest as well as its reforestation.
You can participate from the age of 18, the locations are all over Germany. An assignment lasts one week and that is also the time you have to spend in order to get 100 Life-Score Points to earn. In addition, 100 Life Score points also means a blaue Murmel mit einem Durchmesser von 20mm.
We cook together, spend the night in simple accommodations and eat regional mountain products together, often prepared over a campfire.
It is going to be unforgettable!
If you want to join us, sign up for one of the great Projekts of the Bergwaldprojekt Take pictures and collect the 100 Life Score points for an unforgettable week of work.
rees4Breeze - Sporteln for the worldwide reforestation
Imagine you run your kilometers to stay fit and for every 7 kilometers you run, a tree is planted. You have no extra effort, because you would run anyway, but somewhere in the world a tree is planted that makes this world a better place. If you are not a runner, then this also works with cycling (12km for one tree) or even with the consumption of your calories in the gym or yoga (250 calories for one tree).
This works very simply. Imagine you have a sponsor who pays for the saplings, a non-profit organization that plants the saplings and an app that represents your athletic performance and acts as an intermediary between sponsor and tree planter. All you have to do is sign up for the app and start playing! So there is no reason not to do it!
As announced, you can not only make the world a better place, but also earn valuable Life-Score Points.

Background information on forests and their benefits
I'm sure you'll agree with me when I write that, in addition to economic benefits, forests have even greater benefits as converters of CO2 to oxygen, macro- and micro-climate regulators, and habitats for thousands of species of animals and plants. But let's take a closer look (if you feel like it):
Planting trees against climate change
Researchers at ETH Zurich evaluated the study analyzed more than 80,000 satellite images and were able to calculate that approximately 900,000 hectares of unused forest potential (e.g. degraded areas, wasteland, fallow land) exist on Earth. Interestingly, most of it not in the tropics.
If we were to reforest these areas, we would be able to compensate for more than one third of man-made CO2 emissions. Of course, this is not a free pass for further such high CO2 emissions, but it helps a lot!
Trees can do much more
This alone is an extremely important reason to plant trees immediately, but forests provide a home for many animal and plant species. They are therefore indispensable for the preservation of biological diversity.
Forests and their roots protect soils from erosion, and adjacent land from wind and frost. They also purify our air, allowing us to breathe freely, and keep nature's water balance in equilibrium. Forests have a cooling effect and provide us with valuable recreational space.
